Final Statement
In this project I reveal different aspects of my personal identity by mashing them together in a VDMX performance. Over Thanksgiving break a created a variety of Glitches using crochet doily pictures. I liked the juxtaposition between the digital art and the delicate and vintage fiber art pieces as well as the eerie effect they created. Later when I decided to use VDMX i pieced the glitched together into a video. For the final performance I collaged 7 different videos together throughout the night. One being the doily video, I then had two videos of severe thunderstorms, featuring lightning, tornadoes and beautiful cinematic cloud formations as I felt it blended well with the doilies adding drama and chaos to the piece. Lastly I cycled through four different home videos of my bearded dragon Jojo doing mundane activities like eating strawberries, staring at the camera lovingly and playing with a roach before eating it. I added the videos for comic relief as well to show the enormity of the impact she has had on my life. Although others might not view it this way I feel like the videos I make of Jojo are sort of an art form as well as Jojo herself as I see aspects of my personality in hers being that I raised her since she was a baby.
